Review Roundup of Missed Content #27: Lucha December 2020

Matches: 1. Wotan, Sepulturero vs Fishman Jr, Antheus (12/05) *3/4 2. IWRG Intercontinental Lightweight Title: Puma de Oro vs Baby Xtreme  (12/06) ***1/2 3. Best 2/3 Falls: Euforia vs Stuka (12/17) **** 4. Arez vs Laredo (12/19) ***3/4 Thoughts: Time for some insane lucha libre action! While this stuff can come off as reckless and dangerous at times, there is also a level of passion and dedication that you get from some promotions and select gems that cannot be found basically anywhere else in the world. What happens in Mexico tends to be constantly underrated and far too often looked over by fans and I hope that the features I've done here in the blog since I launched it have helped fix that at least in some minor way. Up first, Wotan and Super Dragons took on Fishman Jr and Antheus in LLPM. Any Kylo fans? Wotan had his Kylo mask on. Also, Mexico clearly is a lot like the southern United States in that they just don't give a fuck about trying to be safe during a pandemic. T

Select Match Review: Bird and Chieftain (IMPACT)

Match from IMPACT Final Resolution 12/12: 1. IMPACT World Title: Swann(c) vs Bey ***1/2 Thoughts: IMPACT has their issues, as they always have, but props to them because most major feds don't have black wrestlers main event their shows. Most don't even have people of color in the main event picture even. Here, two fought over the brand's top prize and a third came out after to set up a future match. Representation matters, folks. Bey stepped up nicely here to Swann's level and they both put in for a very good title match. Sure, it was a throwaway defense, but it worked for what it was and was plenty enjoyable. I'm interested to see what happens with the company in 2021, especially now that AEW is partners with NJPW. Will the IMPACT deal fall aside or will it be balanced? Guess we'll see.

Review Roundup of Missed Content #26: AEW December 2020

Matches: 1.AEW World Title: Mox(c) vs Omega (12/02) **** 2.AEW Tag Titles: Young Bucks(c) vs TH2 (12/03) ***1/2 3.Inner Circle(Jericho,MJF) vs Top Flight (12/17) ***1/2 4.AEW Tag Titles: Young Bucks(c) vs Acclaimed (12/17) ***1/2 5.Rey Fenix vs Limelight (12/22) *** Thoughts: I'll be watching the Brodie tribute edition of Dynamite separate. I also have a write up on Sting and Omega stuff that will be posted separate. This looks just at matches (not from that tribute) that caught my eye. I considered doing them all here but decided it was better to split them up. Just a heads up. Up first, one of the biggest matches of the year for AEW. Moxley's run as the top dog of AEW was pretty damn good. His matches were mostly enjoyable and he worked well as a face of the brand during a hard time. I have no doubt he'll get another run sometime down the line. That said, it was time for a change and Kenny is the right guy. Omega's time in AEW thus far has seen loads of great content
