The Casting kept what Forge started going nicely, stepping up the build towards Metal in the process. This is a direct follow up to The Forge, thus meaning that it had to up the insanity as well. The tone for the event is established well here, but I will say that this didn't feel as complete nor as entertaining as the prior issue. More like a pit-stop.
The art is still well done, and the mysteries are aplenty. The story is good, even if it didn't hit the levels I expected. While I wouldn't typically call this required reading, it becomes a must-read simply because it is the second Dark Days issue and the last stop before Metal begins.
Go ahead and check this one out as a result.
