AEW Dynamite #138 LIVE REVIEW

Matches: Cage: Wardlow vs Spears *** Private Party vs Wild Things *** ROH Tag Titles: FTR(c) vs Roppongi Vice **3/4 Starks vs Swerve vs Jungle Boy ***3/4 Storm vs Baker **3/4 Joe vs O'Reilly ***1/2 Thoughts: This should be a good one, people. We started off with the cage match featuring Wardlow and Spears with MJF as ref (wearing sweet gear). I appreciate the hell out of this angle, by the way. The presentation here was pretty well done, too, with the entrances providing for a strong visual to kick off the instalment. Who had the book with this? It was chaotic entertainment that bordered on circus act but remained wildly entertaining regardless. I know some people will hate this, so mileage will vary, but I had a good time and am rating this accordingly. DIGEST It's time once more to watch some wrestling and write about it, folks. I'm going to start this time with some Dragongate action, with KAI putting the Open the Dream Gate Championship up Cyber Kong. To be clear, neither are classic-makers on their own and, to be blunt, this didn't over deliver. They did put in for an ultimately fine throwaway title match, but nothing you should feel obligated to rush to watch. Next, we go to CMLL. A trios match with Cavernario, Dragon Rojo Jr, and Fuerza Garza taking on papa Atlantis, Negro Casas, and Blue Panther made for a good six-man. It also looked a bit like a bunch of old dudes and two younger ones hanging out. The Copa Junior series of luchas went better than expected, with a decent bit of storylines tacked on and three of the contests actually breaking into recommendation territory. Dragongate Cutting Edge Battle!! #137 Review

Matches: Open the Brave Gate Title: Dragon Dia(c) vs Takuma Fujiwara **** Open the Triangle Gate Titles: Natural Vibes(c) vs GOLD CLASS **** Thoughts: So, this episode was fucking great! The first match saw Dragon Dia retain in a fantastic battle with Fujiwara. They had a good chemistry, kept a strong pace, and it built up nicely. High speed entertainment. The second was just as good and saw Doi and his new unit score gold. UT was fucked a bit, but this too had a nice pace, good drama, and top shelf action. In all, 137 was a half-hour of high octane entertainment and that's just about all I can ask for as a fan. Overall Rating: 85/100%
