Devils Preseason Games 5, 6, & 7 Thoughts

The season starts Friday, the same day the Yankees start their road to the World Series. Big day! So, let's take a quick look at the last games of the preseason and then I'll be doing regular little reports on NJ as the season plays out.

Before we do that, though....

Obviously, people who visit the blog frequently enough know that I handle more than just wrestling here (though inconsistently). I've considered doing more sports posts in general and this should be the first start to that. For future knowledge, if I do this it'll see posts focused on my favorite teams.

Those include:

Now, for the games in question...

vs Islanders W 4-3

at Bruins L 2-0

at Blue Jackets W 2-0

The Devils close the preseason on a high note and honestly, I'm pretty sure most people came away more impressed than they expected with the squad here. Their slow climb up the Metro looks like it might be a tad faster than people expected. The team simply gelled well.

Hall looked more than ready for the start of the official season, Hughes displayed exactly why he was #1, Gusev looked promising, and Nico was a solid two-way player. Add in better goal-tending than expected from Blackwood and Cory and the Devils showed that you can't even completely write off a possibility of a playoff spot for the group. Don't get your hopes up too high, Devils fans, as it was just preseason exhibitions, but know that there's no reason to write them off, either.

Preseason Standings: 5-2-0
